Default CTR piston question

ok, i finally pulled off my head. i had 5k of boost and #3 piston is cracked. i want to go back to N/A, can i put CTR pistons in my R motor w/ out any problems?

i did a search ,but i need a little more info on it

thanks

basically i want to have ctr pistons w/ a stock R head, stock head gasket, pretty much the whole motor will be stock w/ the exception of CTR pistons.

You should have no problems with CTR's

check the surface of the cylinder walls. dont want any bad scratches and scarring so if you have these go ahead and do a .25 OS bore. as long as everything else checks out okay id say it be perfectly fine. how many miles on the car? if willing to spend extra cash id say a fresh bottom build would be perfect (bearings, etc etc) simply for piece of mind. ask someone wise with engine building like sgT, cheetah, etc etc you get the point. to be sure. they can help more then i can but i tried

you should be good to go then gladi could help.

just have your local (qualified ) machinist get a nice crosshatch on the walls for you (hone) for the fresh rings to be able to seat. some people still opt for the .25 OS over bore. (technically it IS more displacement right? hehe)

there is only a JDM CTR piston, no such thing as a USDM CTR piston. its 81mm.. or you can get it in .25 OS just like any other b-series piston (except b20).

CTR pistons in an ITR = about 12.1:1 - 12.2:1

CTR (PCT) pistons are JDM-only pistons.

You have the option of standard bore (81mm) or factory-specified overbore (81.25mm).

To use the over-sized pistons, you need to have the cylinder bores bored/honed or honed out ten-thousandths on an inch (.010" = .25mm).

You should have the pistons weight matched, but it shouldn't be necessary to touch the rest of the rotating assy for a rebalance b/c of the slightly larger/heavier pistons.

CTR pistons in an ITR + 1 Layer Headgasket + milled head = 18.1:1...LoL...Yeah right...

CTR pistons should work fine. If you do plan to run thinner headgasket and mill the head, I suggest claying your motor just to be on the safe side. If you're going to run cams later, you'll have to clay it depending on which one you go with.
