Alright i was thinking about buying a turbo for my car that it is a 1.5 non Vtec in a 95 Civic LX 4 door, and i dont really have money to do a motor swap and i found a good price on a turbo for it,i was wondering how much power i will gain and what times i would run on the 1/4 mile drags, any input will help thanks.

How much HP you make depends on a lot of factors...what size turbo?, how must boost are you running?, how much boost can your motor take?, what type of engine management will you use?, what type of fuel and ignition do you run?, and so forth. If you get a small T25 turbo running 5psi, you won't make very much power. If you get a T3/T4 running 20psi on a built motor, you'll get tons of power. In order to give you more accurate numbers, we'll need more indepth info. A DragIII kit runs a T3/T4 turbo, but on stock internals in a 1.5 civic, you won't be able to boost much before something breaks. You'll have to keep things low...no more than 7psi or so. You should also improve your fuel system (new fuel pump and injectors). you'll need some safety precautions too like a J&S safeguard for sensing detonation, a turbo timer, etc. A new clutch will probably be needed as I don't think the 1.5L civic clutches are that strong. There's a lot more to going turbo than just the turbo. Costs add up quickly. You'll easily notice that the total costs will come close to a swap. Either way, both are costly, but be aware of the other items that you WILL need to boost safely and reliably.

Yea that is one thing that i am thinking of,because i might be able to get a 1.6 Vtec for really cheap from one of my friends when he does his motor swap so i was thinking that if i got that one and rebuilt and had some machine work done and also put the turbo in it,i think that i could get it run pretty fast, but then i wouldnt have to worry about bending or breaking a rod, because everything will be brand new in that motor,so thinks for the inputs, also would NOS be over kill on the 1.5 with out a turbo?
