valve adjustment: how loose/tight?
i read on here that some people have their valve adjustment loose to prevent ticking...but i thought this was the reason why you hear ticks? that your valves are loose?
what about too tight? of course thats not good either... i recently adjusted mine and it made it a bit tight (made it really tight then start loosing until the feeler starts moving but with drags)
as long as the feeler is able to move your fine right?
oh yeah this isn't my first time either...i've done 3 other car's valve adjustment and all 3 ran better/smoother afterwards..just want to improve my skills

I don't know hondas specifically, but generally yes, ticking is because the lash is set too loose. If you set it too tight (on a hydraulic cam), you can crush your lifters. With a solid cam setup, it's best to just use the cam manufacturer's recommendation as a starting point and play with it at the track to see what it likes the best.
when they're contact once heated up.
Nobody's going to be able to tell you where YOUR valves can be adjusted to... cars wear differently... it's up to YOU to figure it out...
I wouldn't recomend going down to another feeler though... if it's REALLY tight but still can wedge under there I'm sure it's fine.

what i meant was, i still use the one that should be used...tight but still able to move it around with a little bit more drag that usual..

Go to the bottom end of lash range, e.g. .006-.007 use .006 . Then double check by trying to insert the next size up, e.g. for .006 try to shove(gently) a .007 in there. If it doesn't fit, then you are between .006 and .007 . I wouldn't go under the specifed range, there is no reason to. You will not notice .0065 from .0070 etc.
