a. the springs are crappy b. the shocks are shot, crappy shocks=crappy ride. but it could be coilovers too. coilovers tend to make the ride bouncy, so ive heard.

Id say (ebay) coilovers or shot shocks, they are designed to inhibit the springs tendencies to "bounce". So either/or.

Edit- cheap coilovers that is.

I've seen people say that coil-overs or springs can cause it to bounce but I've found that the only factor for a bouncy car is bad shocks. I have coil-overs, I started with Tokico Blues cause they were cheap and the car was bouncy, than I put koni yellows in the front and now the front is completely in control and the rear is alittle bouncy. I'd say the key is if you are going to get stiff springs or coil-overs GET ADJUSTABLE SHOCKS, so you can play with the settings till you get it perfect, I'm going to put AGX Adjustables on the rear cause they are cheaper than koni's I'll make a post if it turns out they cant handle it.

Haha yeah, some people do just hack off their OEM springs to lower their car

It's probably some cheap *** APC coilovers or something. I know exactly what you mean though, it's the weirdest thing to see.

The problem ive heard with cut springs was the spring coming off the perch. Be careful with cut springs.

The bounce you describe is the shock's inability to compensate and handle the recoil of the springs. Most likely the shocks are on its last leg and you will see the whole front to rear rocking effect.

Pretty cool to see on the outside, but not so for thedriver.

Ive had the pleasure of going through this with lowering springs and OEM shocks/struts on my Nissan Maxima. 4 months of rocking and nausia forced me had me installing KYB AGX's. Loving them now, and woudl consider gettting them for the teg as well. Just as you did, i hear stock shocks dont handle well and for long on lowering springs. I say enjoy the ride for now till you have to replace them. Considering you bought them as is, use the time to save up some $

Enjoy the ride.

It sounds more like they are riding on the bumpstops. It doesn't matter how good your shocks are, or whether you have adjustable spring perches. If It's too low, you will bounce off of the shock itself, because there is not enough suspension travel.
