Default Presentation and help needed about VAFC...

Hello !

I'm a new user. My name is Nicolas. I'm french. I'm 26 (in two months lol). I've got a Honda Integra type R, from 1998, with the 1.8L for 190 horsepower.

I add to my car a TSS air cold intake, and a non-kat (is it correct ?).

I recently bought and installed an Apexi VAFC, in order to have the Vtec earlier, and gain some torque at lower rpm, and a little more power !

Nobody here can tune my VAFC correctly, I've found someone who will be able to tune it on a dyno, but in september...

Can you help me ? Could you give me some good little setup ?

Thanks a lot !

Nicolas, from France.

please do not make any changes in the fuel correction menue, you need an wide band lambda meter to do it. Set it all on ZERO. You can play with the Vtec, but be sure to have 300rpm difference between on and off.

example: ON: 6000, OFF 5700

Do not set the Vtec too low, cause this is not good for engine when you have not much of oil press. I would not go lower than 5000rpm

I've always wondered why 300 or 400 in the difference??

Funny how many programs run VTEC at 45-4800.....

Take it to a dyno and tune it yourself its not very difficult. I would reccomend buing a fuel pressure riser and fuel pressure gauge before you hit the dyno. The VAFC can make minor changes but for larger changes a small bump in fuel psi can help alot.

My settings have changed between USDM and JDM ecus and motor setups so no one motor setting will work for you unless you tune it on a dyno to be sure. Also get some cam gears to take advantage of the dyno time.....so far my R motor has liked +4 intake -2 exhaust with VTEC at 4800....and I could have gone lower for a little more power but I like 4800 for highway use.

Hope this helps....oh and read the manual....after that youll be able to make adjustments when the time comes.

would you like to ellaborate on why you think setting the vtec lower then 5000 is bad for the motor? why would you have a lower oil pressure? if everything is working the way it should....
