I'm thinking going turbo on an LS. What brand turbo (or pieced together) do you
have and what is your known or estimated HP and strip #'s? I was dead set on a supercharger but people tell me I'll get more out of an LS with turbo. Also, is a GSR worth the extra money if going to turbo or SC (and everything else you can think of) whatever you get? I have the oppurtunity to buy one, and was really thinking that was the only way to go, but once again talking with others has led me to believe that it dosen't really matter. Transmissions might be the only difference they say( that is after you do all you can to each of them)

If you can do a custom kit then do it. It's usually cheaper that way. Im' estimating with my setup about 240 hp with a very broad power band and around 210 ft lbs of torque. I'm running a T3 60 trim on about 9 psi.

Im thinking that's garbage. A turbo that can support 550 hp will not spool up at all on a stock motor and will be wack and slow as hell. Also, a fuel pump and regulator will not work for much over 250 hp. Also, an air-air intercooler isnt the ideal choice for that much power. And it would have to be one massive air-air intercooler to be cooling off 550 hp worth of air. how much is he asking for this kit.

Sorry about the post disappearing, I tried to edit it and put the price in but I hit delete instead of save,...... anyway. The cost of the turbo kit was $3,300.

I wanted to bring this thread back up to see what everyone thought of the price of the turbo kit I was quoted. It was a REVHARD, with up to 30 lbs of boost and every thing else you can think of ( cooler, wastgate, oil pickup, manifold ect). Cost $3,300> The salseman said the air to air intercooler it came with would be right for the job and that a water one would be to big ( or something like that). What do y'all think?

That is the going rate for a Rev-hard kit. He's not giving you any deals. the thing about 30 psi is dumb. He's just throwing out numbers to make it seem cool.

What do think the boost can go up to ? or do you know what the factory specs are?
I'm not doutbing you , I just want to know what to expect. I'll be ready to buy in a month or two. Also, the turbo was polished or something....I can't remember.....Ijust know it was shineeeee!!!!!.....Would that affect the cost that much?

Actually i had a turbo on my RS that was sized for over 500HP application.... not really a good idea... although believe it or not it spooled up quite quickly (very snappy).... it would surge down low.... it would just spool like crazy and push sooo much air it would surge and pulse like a banchee...

Over the winter i had it replaced with a unit sized a bit smaller.... although it doesnt spool quite as fast.. it's still quicker then most and most importantly .... it doesn't surge.

i had a fmax kit on my ls before....i opted to sell it and run a revhard....the improvement was phenomenal....its soooo much faster.......i havent timed it yet but my boy is running the exact same set up as me and his best time so far is 12.80@105mph on all STOCK internals at 9psi with full interior.....i thought that was pretty impressive

SO I guess you would recommend REVHARD turbos. Did you buy a kit or piece it together? And how much $$$$$$ was it!

my kit was 3000 to my door.....i would suggest definitely going with at kit if you are relatively new to turbos....custom kits can be cheaper and produce more power....but they also require a fairly expirienced tuner to get them running to their full potential....a kit more or less bolt on and then your ready to run........and if you do go with a kit i suggest the revhard all the way.....just an opinion

I was priced a turbo for $3300 and newsense said he got one for $3000. So I'm trying to see how good a deal I'm getting. Am I paying extra for shineeeeness or what...........By the looks of your SC you are certainly not 'show'. Anyway I thought this was honda-tech.com not saturn-tech.com

You forgot Freddy running stock motor and Rev Hard and stripped 91 RS running 12.52@110(?) mph! That's impressive! I ran a 12.58@111.22 mph with 13-14 psi at MIR NIRA event full interior and bad 2nd gear synchro! :D This is a DRAG 3 equipped Si. I figured Josh that the CFR Advanced Tuning is Chris and Freddy .what's the R part of Freddy's name? Peace.
