Any brake experts here? We replaced portions of my roommate's brake system this weekend on his 93 civic hatch, including front rotors and pads, and rear drums.

After that, we bled the system, starting at passenger rear->drivers rear->passengers front->drivers front. After all that, the pedal still doesn't feel good. It goes nearly all the way to the floor before you feel anything and while it stops the car, it's scary.

Here's the catch though. While bleeding, on the drivers rear, it was doing something weird. Every time I opened the bleeder valve, a foamy chunk of bubbles squirted out, along with fluid. Normally, as on the other corners, the bubbles were larger, more defined. This was very fine bubbles/foam type of stuff. After bleeding at least 3 or 4 master cylinder refills through that corner, it didn't alter or change. I figured air might have been leaking through the rubber that clamps onto the bleeder nipple, and it was no big deal. But doing the other corners, none of the others did that. So I'm thinking this is the problem with the brakes.

Is it possible that there's some really small hole in the brake cylinder seal that lets air in, but not fluid out? Because nothing is leaking, the master cylinder is full, we pulled the wheel again and no fluid is seeping out of the cylinder there.

I'm pretty stumped.

 

you bled them in the wrong order, it goes driver front, pass rear, pass front, driver rear....you bleed one system at a time. that could very well account for poor pedal feel.
