well i got a b16a from hybrid garage today and mabey i am wrong but the story every place tells it these motors are low mileage from japan right . wrong. this is what i got and you tell me what you think. upon first overlook of the engine i see this extra green wire comming out of the distributor. ok they had a extra tach in the car. then i see the trans painted red ok weird then i see they have sawed off the end of the valve cover to expose the timing gears (alot of people do that ). so i figure let me do a compression test before i even drop this in well on first test my results were 2,75,1,0 my blood was pumping to say the least i was like how could that be, so i looked at it real hard and the timing gears just diddnt look right to me then i realized that one of the two cams was 180 degrees out of rotation i was like what the **** so i pulled the belt spun it 180 and redid comp test and got 225 psi across the board i was so releaved. i then pulled the trand to inspect the cluch only to find a act racing clutch so at this point i am like ok so some one in "japan" did a little modifying not a big deal. but the real zinger and are you ready for this, i may be tottaly wrong but isnt k. wantanbe in america and why would this little disk of metal with thier name stamped on it be riveted to the block in the back of the engineby the intake. so what am i to think about this so called low mileage motor is it a good thing or bad you decide let me know your thoughts thanks in advance tommy and if i am wrong about k. wantanabe let me know and if you have info or web site for them please include

 

sounds like you got someones used b16a swap.

or better yet , maybe someone is missing a b16a swap and u just recovered it.

It sounds like you got a used one from the states, or they stole a car and ripped it out. I would look around here for stolen cars and see if anyone ever had a b16 with a red trans. More then likely though if you painted your trans red your a ricer so you might not find them here. But defiantly look around to see if people recently got there car stolen around your area or where ever hybrid garage is located.

 

DAMN bro , sorry to hear about the bad news. I highly doubt that is a JDM motor that you should of recivied. Call them up and complaine bro. If i were you i would seriously be making mad phone calls.

K. wantanbe has been around for a while now. I personaly have not yet heard of any people i know or memebers on h-tech that has gotten a motor from there.

hey man the compression is good, so i would just drop it in... more than likely you wont get anything out of complaining to them... my friend got a b16a2 from foreign engines in washington state with 2 BLOWN cylinders and they told him to go **** himself when he asked for his money back... they are a pretty big company in washington so it was kind of a shock.. (to him)
just drop it in and if it works fine drive it

**** it, the compression is mad good and you got the clutch with it, put it in and see how it goes. It is only a motor swap takes a few hours and then if it don't work a lil more than a few hours to swap that out and another one in.

 

well to let you all know shes runnin perfect ecept for a code 7 on the cel other than that no smoke or knock and the power is there when you crack that thottle. now lets get her of the stands and on te road and see how she does under a load

 

well i took her on the road tonight for the first time since i put the motor in last week. lets just say this motor cant be stock its too fast. its almost to scary to drive. i originally wanted to turbothe motor but after the test drive tonight the turbo went from neccesty to accesory lol

 

thats sweet man, so how does it feel switching to a b series? and is it worth every penny?
