Autozone brake rotors/brembo blanks......

I noticed that alot of people here say that the autozone replacement rotors work just fine for people who need to replace their rotors. But my question is when people say "autozone rotors", Are they specifically referring to replacement rotors sold at autozone, or is that more of a general statement, meaning pretty much any replacement rotors from autozone/pepboys/strauss etc. I ask this because I dont have any autozones near me but I do have a pepboys and a strauss near me. Will rotors from one of those stores work just as well as rotors from autozone ?
they are all going to be pretty much the same. The reason people recommend them is cuz they are inexpensive and carry a warranty. If they warp or crack you get a new set free. Beat the rotors on the track, warp em, get a brand new set.... you get the idea.
Everyone around here seems to reccomend Brembo blanks. But not the drilled/slotted ones, I dunno know why, but they say to stay away from em, maybe they warp? Stick to the blanks.

I say blanks because for the most part, you wont ever see the benefits of slotted or drilled rotors on the street. Theyre pretty expensive for something that you'll never notice. X-drilled rotors also are more prone to cracking, although thats not too realistic for a street car.
Autozone carries a bunch of different rotors, but the ones I recommend and most do are the generic Aimco Autozone $21.99 rotors...cheap and effective. If youre not doing a real brake upgrade, these will be just as good as any blank/OEM rotors if not better. They also carry a 3 month warranty.
If you have a car you track, or are competitive with, you may see the benefits of spending $80+ a rotor or whatever on slotted rotors. At that point, you may as well buy a real brake upgrade ie Fastbrakes/ITR conv. There just isnt a point for a street driven car to spend the $$$ on slotted/drilled rotors.

Haha, only when my buddies convince me
I have a couple friends who go down there from time to time, sometimes I tag along to see some action. If Im there, its usually with a red GSX w/CF hood & huge FMIC, and sometimes w/ a SR20'd S13 & Silver TRD kit'd Celica. Do you go down there often?
It used to be incredible a few years back...tons of fun. Then it kind of blew up and got dangerous and very hot...
We're way off topic now...hit me on PM, Ill keep an eye out for your car if Im down there.

just so you guys know I did end up getting the autozone replacements and they feel really solid.....no suealing or anything...they also seem a bit lighter than the factory rotors......thanks for you input guys
Right on man, if you see a red GSR w/bronze wheels & a CF hood, thats me.
I actually weighed the autozone rotors before I put them on, and they were a BIT lighter than stock.

For street driving autozone blanks are fine. For track use you ought to consider brembo blanks or the rotors that cobalt friction sells.
