Igniter going bad?

Sometimes car won't start. crank and crank, won't turn over.
Wait a few minutes, then it does.
Tach needle goes crazy over 3000 rpm, gets worse as car gets warmer.
Feels like the engine can't breathe, as if it's choking for more fuel or air.
Or maybe spark?
I searched and the prognosis seems to be the igniter is on it's way out.
Any opinions?

sounds like bad igniter too...but you should double check your ignition system...one time my d16 had similar symptoms, but it turned out that i didn't tighten my rotor well...
similar thing happened to me today. I turn off the car for about 2 hours, come back to start it, starts but dies immediately upon turn over and throws code 16. so.... i left it where it was for a few hours, come back and it rolls over like a dog getting its stomach stratched.
our ignitor is a recall

I had/have the same problem. I'm just investing in a new distributer. Everything is hooked up right, and I replaced the ignitor, distributer cap and rotor, and it was doing the same thing. If you feel that it is being choked for fuel or air, try shorting out one of your plug wires while cranking and see if it throws any sparks. Another way to tell if your ignition goes out is to smell the exhaust.

Hey, thumpu.
I shoud've listened to you.
That's what it was. The guy who had car before me really F@#$!% up the
inside of the dis. Corrosion, stripped screws, loose wires at igniter.
Anyone need a coil for a B18A, still in honda bubble wrap?
Thank god I didn't buy the igniter too. $120.00 from honda.

i had the same prob w/ my zc....... only my autometer tach would jump all over the place and hesitate and what not........... i also have a full msd ignition setup and checked all my wiring inside the distributor and even re-wired the whole thing because it was driving me ape-****. i finally changed the cap/rotor and the prob disappeared. everyonce in a while it will do it but not nearly to the extreme as before........ it was weird though cuz everytime i disconnected my tach it would stop hesitating. im gonna change my ignitor next

Dude, before you waste money like I did. CLEAN ALL the connections.
Check to make sure the 3 or 4 wires to the igniter are TIGHT!
Crimp them down with a plier, GENTLY!!
Then try to pull them off GENTLY! If they are a biotch to get off, then they are tight enough.
Make SURE EVERYTHING is clean and corrosion free.
Also check the ground on the back of the block near the thermostat
housing. Mine was corroded and gunked up with crap.
CLEAN it good, anti-sieze it.
Put it back on TIGHT.
