b swap header problems
ok im swapping in a ls motor and i got my oil pan on, but my ls header wont fit because its hitting the oil pan, just right around where the pipe bends on the lower piece, how did u other b series swap guy handle this ?
Are you using an ls oil pan ? And your using an ls header right, then it should fit. If your using a b16 header then it would hit, but if your using an ls header on an ls, you should have no problems.
he said it was an ls oil pan and header. Sounds like you got a 16 header instead. Usually there's enough room for a 16 header to work on a 18. Are you having clearances issues at the cross-member?

Well when I installed my header on my car, I needed to take the header studs out because part of the header kept hitting the oil pan. Probably not your problem but I'm just telling you cause it might help you out. If that does not, then you got the wrong header on there.

ok but why would taking out the header studs affect how the header is positioned, u mean the exhaust mani studs right, not anything on the header itself
No nothing on the header, mine would not clear the oil pan with the studs in. It would not come high enough and forward enough with out the one piece that bolts to the engine by the cat.
the thing is that, i switched oil pans, and the stock one that was on the motor when i got it, it was dented in right where my new oil pan is hitting, so the guy dented the oil pan to make it fit. the reason i had to switch oil pans is because the car flew down a hill and got the bottom dented enough where hte oil pick up itself was dented. so instaed of trying to take the dents out, i just bought a new one, but now hte header doesnt clear the new one
i tried to compare it as best i could and it seemed to be ok and it did bolt up to the ls and the guy i bought it form said its from an ls. but i mean it looked like the oil pan i took off
**** just one more problem after another. ok its not an ls header, what kidn of header will bolt up to the ls but not be an ls header, from what engine ?

Any b18 header will work. If you header bolts to the head, then you might just be able to get the down pipe from an ls or any b18.

i know anyone selling the bottom half of the header, but **** the top half itself could be positioned wrong, im not to keen on how they make the headers
