Default Question about hooking up shift linkage and shifter during a swap.

Hey guys, I had a strange / dumb question I was wondering you could help me with. Now, when you do a swap, and use the shift linkage that comes with the swap, does it come with a shifter to use also? or do you use your stock shifter?? Also, before you pull the motor out, you leave the car in gear right?? When you hook the shift linkage up when the new motor is in, how do you know what gear the tranny is in, since you dissconnect the old linkage? Sorry if my questions are unclear, just trying to get this straight. Thanks for any replies.

Well, to start. What CAR you swapping into?

And what motor are you swapping in?

I have a 93 cx and am buying a JDM b16a. My main concern is the second part of my question though. Thanks.

You will need to use the B series shift linkage rods. You can use the factory shifter as it will bolt right up.

For swapping in gear, it does not matter, as long as the lil bitch pin on the end of the rod is on the tranny securly, and bolted up to the bottom of the shifter.

When installed, you will know by using the shifter what gear you were in.

HTH.

wow i thought you would get flamed for that question, when you pull your motor leave it in first gear thay way it will leak less fluid when you pull the axles, or just drain the fluid, and then when you put your b16 in you will need both b16 linkages, or any integra or sir linkages, when you put the linkages in and then hook them up to the tranny you will realize that you didn't have to ask this question! but thats ok, you learn trial by error!!!

Drain the tranny first. Yes, you need both the steady rod and the shift rod. If you're using Integra linkage, you'll also need the shifter. The base of the Civic shifter is narrower than the Integra.
