Default B/D Series shift linkages

Hey guys, any help with this would be appreciated.

I've done B swaps before and I'm pretty familiar with them. I'm rebuilding a B20B to drop into my 94 hatch and I noticed the B shift linkage has been cut at some point (probably by the wreckers) and re-welded with a short sleeve (making the linkage longer). The shifter is clearly not centered in the car and is awkward during shifting. 1-3-5 is much closer to the radio than it should be.

First question: Can anyone give me accurate length measurements of a B shift linkage? I'd like to cut it and re-weld it to the proper length.

Second question: Can I use the D shifter (just the part the **** threads onto) on the B linkage? I'm not a fan of the bend in the B shifter, I prefer my straight D shifter.

Just realized all that was very confusing. I'll post pics tonight, hopefully someone understands my wording.

I'm not looking to use the entire D linkage, I need the correct measured length of a B linkage so I can repair the one I have (that came with the B20), and then I want to use the shifter from my original D (because it's straight, rather than the bent B shifter) on the B linkage. Sense make?

I am using the OE shifter (the "straight' one as you call it) with B series linkage in my EH2, it works with no mods.

You may want to buy new linkage and save yourself the hassle of trying to fix the linkage rods you have. They are about $40 and $53 from Majestic:

Hey thanks, big help. I just realized yesterday that all I had to do was search for a short shifter on eBay and look at the compatibility list to see if it fits both a Civic and a Tegger. Derp.

Also, I'm pretty comfortable with a mig so I'm not overly concerned with the B linkage I have, it'll be the last thing I do during the swap. I'll have someone in the car centering the shifter both vertically and horizontally while I tack it from under the car. I should be able to weld a good portion of it while it's all mocked up on the car and then just disconnect it from the tranny and weld the top portion. Cheers!

I was pretty sure that B/D series shift levers were interchangeable. I know skunk2 sells a 1 size fits all, but it 's been years since I installed mine. I was fully prepared to keep my skunk2 shifter for my h2b swap.
