Default B16 build

I have some questions for those that have built there B16. I was going get a new oil pump, water pump, etc. As with most B series parts, I have heard that you can interchange oil pump, etc. as a sorta OEM upgrade. I want to save money, so I thought some new OEM parts from a higher trim honda/acura vehicle would be a nice upgrade. Would parts did you use, or what would be an upgrade that would work?

so you are saying that an oil pump made for a GSR, ITR, or CRV(2 liter block) is the same as the one for a 1.6 liter engine? I believe they may have changed it for larger blocks. I am looking into an oil pump, water pump, and maybe a thermostat as an OEM upgrade.

When you build your B16 most people and me for instance I bought a Type R oil pump. As for the water pump I'm not sure. My block was faily new so I didn't replace it. Most of the B-series stuff is interchangeble, but you should always double check. Hope that helps.

When I got my block, it was pretty used up, but the oil pump was well within the service limits. Check all the clearances inside and if yours is good, I wouldn't bother replacing it.

Get a B16 water pump. Select a thermostat appropriate for the climate you live in.

the blocks arent any larger. the oil galleys are the same size for vtec engines (as far as i know). the only diffrence is bore and stroke.

honda likes to use the same parts for everything. i would not be surprised if a ITR oil pump was the exact same as a b16 oil pump.

there is nothing wrong with the b16 oil pump, water pump or thermostat.

So there are no upgrades for any B series engine as far as OEM parts go with oil pumps, water pumps, thermostats, etc.?

The OEM stuff in most cases is the best stuff... It just depends on what your replacing & what kind of racing/driving your going to be doing...
