clunking noise coming from tranny??
ok well i have a clunking noise coming from my tranny when i let off the gas in ethier 1st or 2nd. Its a quick clunk or snapping type of noise. Almost sounds like if you ran over a stick. Its a b16 tranny w/ quaife lsd, CM stage 3 clutch and flywheel, and new throwout bearing. I don't think the tranny work has anything to do with it because it used to do this on the stock transmission. It doesnt make the noise when shifting gears or when accelerating. Say i have the car in 1st or second and i'm at 4-5k rpm and i let off the gas, thats when it makes the sound. Any ideas of what this could be? Btw this is with stock suspension and axles. Car is a 2000 civic si jr supercharged
Your disc hub might be damaged. It's hard to tell, but it could be that your hub is enlargened and your input shaft of the tranny has some rotatational play.
Just my guess.
Just my guess.
I am also having the same problem with my d16y8 tranny. I hear it basically in only 1st and 2nd gear when i lay off the gas, recently had my transmission flushed about 2 weeks ago I dont know if that could cause any of that noise. Please help thanks.
could be an axle getting ready to fail, if it were the diff, hmm that would be constant... unless its getting ready to fail. it could be a motor mount... if you are letting offa the gas and it happens, chances are it could be something simple... I have heard the way my clutch sounded when the inner hub of the disk started to go it began to chatter at idle like a rod knock. when I pushed the clutch in, it would go away. hmm... thats a tough one
Yah same happens here when i engage the clutch the noise goes away so Im thinking its something with the tranny. Its real noisey when i downshift into 1st from 2nd at around 15mph-20mph and i dont really hear it after 3rd gear and up.
