Overheating when Idling?
My car recently has started overheating when it's just sitting there idling after i drive it for a while. It wont overheat while I'm driving it. Just when I'm parked. It'll take about 2 minutes for the temp gauge to start to climb.
What could be the problem?

Is your ignition timing advanced at all? Make sure your cooling fan is also turning on.
If all else fails, that could be a sign of carbon build up in the motor, or radiator making the water pump not being able to flow the water fast enough, or it could be a sign of a bad headgasket.
Do you smell coolant even the slightest when you pop the hood while running?
HTH bro

that's what happen to my ol DA before it blew the headgasket.

Also, might be the ECT (Engine Coolant Temperature) sensor -
I had the same problem- Make sure your fan comes on. If the fan doesn't turn after your car is well warmed up, it could be this.
Its a small "plug" that sits right next to the thermostat housing. When the engine coolant reaches a certian temp, the metal inside the plug changes conductance and completes the circuit to tell the fan to come on.
Takes about 3 minutes to change and costs about $8.00.
Good Luck -

first repair the easy stuff. like water pump, radiator flushing, thermostat, and after those are done you may need to replace your head gasket. my car started that way, and now my head gasket is the only thing i need to replace. my car overheats all the time now. i can only drive it to the store and back. no long trips...

Well, does the fan come on?
If not, unplug the fan switch, jumper its wires, turn on the ignition. If the fan runs now, replace the fan switch. If not, post back - fan relay, wiring, fuse, motor...
It's not the ECT sensor. That doesn't tell the fan to run.
Probably not the waterpump or the radiator. Your engine makes way more heat when you're driving, and it's able to stay cool then, so the rest of your stuff should be OK. Sounds to me like your fan just won't run.
edit:
I just read your other thread, coolant in your oil. That doesn't sound good. But even so, the fan should come on when it gets hot.
