Default car wont "warm up"

so i just put my new LS motor in the other day and when i drive my car, it wont "warm up" so to speak.

the motor idles higher when its cold, and drops when after running for a few minutes like normal, but it wont warm up. like the radiator/hoses are all still cool to the touch and the temp guage doesnt move even after i've been driving it for a few minutes

my first thoughts were about the thermostat, but than the car would overheat correct? than i thought about the sending unit for the water temp, but that still wouldnt explain the coolness of the radiator, and hoses. could it be both?

thanks

Replacing the thermostat would be the best place to start. It is easy and inexpensive.

thermostats don't usually stick open. but anything can happen with cars.

there might not be a thermostat in there period. When I got my swap only half of the thermostat was in there so the car would never warm up

Wrong temperature thermostat? Installed upside down so the jiggle pin is not on the top? Failing water pump? Hmmm....

not having a thermostat lowers engine temps, but often doesnt allow for a high enough operating temp

not having a thermostat isnt smart , youll get alot of corrosion inside . and thermostats are "Designed" to stick open when they go bad , however they never do 99% of the time. so thats what it sounds like to me , or somehow your fan is on all the time

If the theromostat doesn't work...My friend had a problem with his integ not warming up, along with a small unnoticeable leak from I think the IAC gasket...the little rubber 8 gasket on the back of the manifold. Once he did that...it worked fine. Might not be the cause...but you never know...caused a similar problem.

Thermostats stick open often especially on motors that have sat for a while and then get put back into use. Mine was stuck open and wasn't a issue till the temps got down and it would take 15 minutes of driving to get any heat.

The thermostat stuck open on my '88 Accord. When the engine is cold it runs rich, so I got really crappy gas mileage and it can foul your O2 sensor.
