Default Oil question, is it safe to ride on.....

is it safe to ride on snthetic oil for more than the 3000 miles super lube says so? I got a 600 mile car trip and am extremely paranoid about the oil in the h22a1. Does 3000 miles give the oil enough time to break down? Al ways used synthetic so whats th real deal? please

i've also heard that syn. is safe to ride on up to 6000 miles. did you check with the oil manufacturer to see when they said to change it?

there should be a recommended changing time. yes, synthetic is usually able to last longer... im not sure about 6k though.

In town driving full synthetic will last 5000 miles Highway driving full synthetic will last you about 7500 but keep in mind most likely you are only using a normal oil filter so the filter needs replaced at 3000 miles. unless you go with an extended drain oil filter like a higher end fram that can go 7500 miles they run about 9 dollars. if not change your filter every 3000 and add a half quart back in

The thing is, there are really no rules of thumb here, and really no absoloutes as it pertains to the oil, itself. That's because the oil is simply a vehicle, or medium, with which you introduce additives and anti-wear agents to your engine, that coupled with the fact that the vehicle/medium (oil) is the lubricant, is degradable, and sensetive to ambient conditons compounds the problem. Frankly the filter is what you've got to worry about, and it would be more disconcerting to never change your filter than to keep filling up the engine w/ new oil.

Anyway, my point? You can go to 5000 miles in b/w oil changes, but this all depends on the load the engine sees in that 5000 miles, and more importantly --and this is why you need oil-- what temperature variations , how much heat, and how many times is the oil heated and cooled (degraded)? If you go past 3000 miles, but top off the engine, okay. Past 5000, maybe? 10k? No ******* way.

Good deal! ALSO, if you have an oil pressure guauge, and the needle starts to float around and bonce. You DO NOT have enough oil in your car!!!!!!!!!!! And Super-Lube's new name is now Stupid-Lube!

look at the amsoil bottle. Says you can run 25,000 between changes on their synthetic (i wouldn't though), but the filter needs changing every 12,500. I guess you're suppose to drain your oil, put the new filter on, and stick the old oil back in???

I never got that one
