anyone have an ek hatch with a Si sohc motor in it?
Si's from 1986 or 1987 through 1995 had SOHC motors in them. The only realistic motor to use would be the d16z6 (SOHC VTEC) from a 1992-1995 Civic Si/EX, but it would be a PITA to convert the motor to OBD2. Might as well put in a d16y8 (SOHC VTEC) from a 96-00 Civic EX.

Yes thats what i was thinking. The 92-95 gen Si SOHC would be best....BUT it is OBD1 so im a bit confused to what you were saying about converting????
anyway...im really curious about the gains from having this done.
i know its not your typical b16a or b18c etc etc but im still very curious/interested in knowing the power gains, 1/4 times from it....
BUMP..

ek is obd2. d16z6 is obd1. get a d16y8 (96-00 ex) engine so it'll be easier to wire up. you asked about gains. well... lets see... more power. that's about it. you should already know that the dx engine has 106 hp and ex has 127. i have a d16y8 in my 97 hatch.

anyway....if you are swaping the 92-95 Si sohc motor into an ek what do you need to do it? Do you need to get a new ecu (what else is there?) as well? or can you just drop the Si sohc motor straight in and go?

you are going to need a obd2 distributor, obd2 injectors, obd2 altenator, and obd2 wiring harness, and hopefully some one else will chime in and say what else is needed

can't you just repin the obd1 distributor to obd2 specs? also, i thought the alternator was the same on obd1 and obd2.
