What are long term affects if hypothetically...
with a manual trans, one were to try to accelerate from 3rd gear at a stop instead of 1st gear? has anyone ever done this by accident? what happened, is it bad for the clutch, etc...?
Chances are you can't do it, depending on your car. In order to keep the car from stalling you'd have to have the rpms very high. Starting off in second in my 5th gen is hard enough. I can do it, but I've got to keep rpm at around 4k and let the clutch out really slow. I think it would be very hard to start off in third, but I'm sure it can be... all while wearing out your clutch.
yeah right man....u don't have that much power.....u gotta have them rpms real high close to red line....and just feather the clutch out til u start moving soo u don't stall
im fuc*^&^ drunk! don't mind me

It can be done.. all you gotta do is get your car rolling by slipping the clutch out to 10-15 mph then just let it out, your rpms will be low but it would be less slipping of the clutch..
Why the hell would you want to do it???????? It will fry the **** out of your clutch and get shitty accelleratoin..
