my header rattle is gone!!!!!
today I was with my girlfriend getting a drink, as I was pulling outta the parking lot I ran over some sort of big rock/concrete.. immediately I stop the car and say "oh ****, this is going to cost"
i look underneath the car, no damage.. car is fine, idles fine, tranny's fine, so far so good.. as I am driving, i'm listening for abnormal noises, nothing out of the ordinary. shocks are good, car tracks straight..
but then I realized, at around 3-4k rpm my header rattle is gone!! when i get home and jack up the car, the flange that meets the cat is bent a little bit but everything else is perfectly fine..
i am so happy that my header rattle is gone!!

i'll see if I can get my friends digicam.. the flange is bent towards the rear of the car, maybe the a-pipe took a hit too.. not too sure, i'll try and get pics up
I bet its a temp fix. The inside of the lower header pipe breaks inside, thus causing the rattle. Acura replaced mine under warrenty. Its gone since. Best way to fix it...New Header, not oem
Actually it makes sense. On mine, the inner pipe wasn't loose. But it's not supposed to be attached at the outlet end. Over time & temperature, it just warped closer to one side so it wasn't centered any more. Bend it the right way & it improves, bend it the wrong way & it gets worse.

Was it your header rattling or the cat heat shield rattling? Because my car is rattling like like a **** rightnow and is bugging the hell out of me..I have 800 miles left on warranty, I really should go get it fixed..

What a great fix.....i replaced my a-pipe and that got rid of a lot of rattling but I still have just a bit right around 3.2k and a real faint rattle at like 2k. I think its time to strip my heatshields or crash into a big rock. I'll have think about that one...
i've been driving all night and still no rattle.. i can finally hear my intake (diy cold air tube) i couldn't get my hands on a digicam, but i'm pretty sure in my case the only thing that is cosmetically different is the flange to the cat..
Have any of you guys ever actually taken off your A-pipe? The inner pipe is attached somewhere forward, and it just hangs at the outlet end. If it hasn't actually broken, then the inner pipe is held in the center by its own stiffness. Mine was off center, but it wasn't loose. Maybe I could have bent it back to center. But I thought it was an excuse to get a header.
