Default New Jersey to begin cracking down on car theft.

Everyone here who lives in NJ knows that insurance for imports is a biotch here, why? Theft rates. Jim Mcgreevy issued his insurance reform bill, which will put more police time into car thefts, and there will be more DOT check points, insurance comanies are also required to know if youve changed your engine, they'll either need a vin number and a bill of sale and if its JDM a billofsale, If you get into an accident and they see you have a b18c instead of a d16, they'll drop you instantly! They know Hondas are the hottest thefts right now, so hopefully we can breathe a little better soon. BTW all my info is from the NJ State Police, I do the Networking and fiber optic installations for them in West Trenton, NJ and Sea Girt.

It won't happen...Police officers have more important things to do than to search around for stolen cars...Unless NJSP is going to hire more specifically for this and have a task force dedicated to it, it's not going to happen...They will soon learn that the $$$ invested for a task force is not worth the end result...I know firsthand how it works and it just doesn't make sense, manpower and moneywise.

Hope you have time to wait around...I applied w/ NJSP and didn't hear from them so I moved to FL and got a job. Plus the weather is better here. You have a degree, right? NJSP requires it

Looks like this is going to be New Jersey Drive Pt2.

I know the NYPD checks under the hood for the right motor. I got pulled over and the cop was all up under my hood of me Ej B18c1. He had me sitting there for a bout 20 min while he made phone calls to check all Vins on my motor.

the only way there will ever be less auto theft for hondas in jersey is when all the dc2 chassis cars are gone. all stolen and nothing left. that is when the rates will go down.

ever goto c&j towing in newark on any given day. they have tons of recovered thefts all the time. it's a career in newark for these thieves and most never get caught.

So true. Most car thieves if caught, get just a slap on the wrist. They are back stealing shortly thereafter..

thieves that break into cars and steal them.... slap on wrist...

thieves who break into houses and loot them.... jail time.

whats the difference?

every little bit helps. and theft is why insurance in NJ is a joke. honestly i know someone who was financing through American Honda Motor Corp on his Integra Type R, well statefarm dropped him (they are trying to get out of NJ), he couldnt find any and I mean any company to pick him up, why? Because his Integra was a Type R no points on his liscence but the theft was the reason. He had to end up getting insurance through a Honda ordered insurance company or they would repo his car no matter if his payments were made or not, its a part of your financing contract to keep full coverage, if not they can repo you.
