Battery Light = Replace Alternator :(

I am having a problem where my battery light comes on intermittingly. I had the car hooked up to a volt and amp meter to test things, and everything was looking good. I would get up to 95 amps of output from the alternator. Then, the battery light came on, and the alternator puts out nothing all of a sudden. In talking with several people, it appears the internal regulator in the alternator is bad.
I am pretty surprised though that this is the case, I expected the alternator to last for several more years.
It looks like I am going to get a new alternator. Besides replacing the belts while I am at it, should I replace anything else? How do you get the alternator out, remove the battery and do that way?
Thanks.

If you need copies of some of the pages let me know.
Or if you want, I can come by this Saturday morning, or any saturday for that matter.
Just PM me or Email me, I check H-T during the work week a few times a day as my job is pretty boring sometimes.

Disconnect the battery, unplug and unbolt the alternator, remove the lowerball joint nut and axle nut on the driverside, hit your lower control arm with a hammer or use a ball joint separator to make it loose, remove the 3 bolt to the intermediate drive shaft, then you can either remove the oil filter or the lower alternator bracket to get the alternator off.
Good luck.
Good luck.
Wow, I hope there's a way to remove the alternator without disconnecting the lower ball joint. If you mess with that, you'll need an alignment on top of everything else.

You need one every time you switch wheels and tires too, I believe.

lol! Heck, I'll get an alignment done if a stiff breeze hits my car.
to abusing my Firestone lifetime alignment privileges.
