Simple question, looking to buy a Miata, just wondering if they come with an LSD, and from what I understand, they origonally came with a 1.8, and then in 96 bumped up to 2.0?
hehehe....funny you should bring this up.
90-93 were 1.6 and had an optional viscous LSD
94-97 were 1.8 had an optional torsen diff. Most cars had the diff, because it was part of the most basic option package. So if a 94-97 is anything but a base model with steelies it has a torsen.
99+ miatas are still 1.8 with a torsen. not sure if it is an option or not though
you will find answers to any other questions on http://www.miata.net

Close...
while that is true for 94-95, the 97 "Touring" model also had an unlimited slip diff. Because people tend to replace or upgrade the steelies, the best way to check is cruise control or power mirrors. Excepting the "R" package, if it's got those, it's got LSD.
Check out miata faq for more detail.

I believe he was implying that a white '94 R package Miata with 78k miles would have the LSD, if anybody around here was lucky enough to find one.

My friend had a '99 Miata. I don't believe his car had the LSD in it. It's been a while, but I think it was optional on the base package, possibly optional on the Touring, included with the Sport or 10AE package.

You can remove the majority of the foam in the seat cushion and drop the seating position down about 2"
Hopefully that will help.... if not i'll just have to drive it

Or better yet, weld a Kirkey to the floor.

Have you done this yet? I was going to bolt it to the floor so it wasn't totally useless on the streets just yet.
I tried seat cusion gimmicks on my 240. Removing 2" of foam lowers you about .5" (and makes driving w/ a wallet painful). I wouldn't count on getting much out of foam.

yes, they are. I'd still "hit it," however.

the chicks or the cars?
the chicks or the cars?
For the first time ever, I got the chance to autocross and really drive a Miata (HippoSleek's "new" one) since they've been out. After that, I'd have to say the car.

If the seat foam trick doesn't work, I may have to hide beneath the hard top myself...
