Vtec activation
Why does the vtec go on so late in the rpms, instead of midrange rpm my redline start at 7000, and goes on at about 5700. D16y8. also is it bad to run your car that high in the rpms semi-often. Thanks for any help
vtec switches cam profiles at the optimum point of crossover for the cam's profiles. i.e. the lower rpm's run on one profile of the cam & when that profile is about to stop making good power vtec switches to the high rpm profile to continue the build of power. by lowering vtec engagement on a stock cam you will probably run a little slower. you shouldn't worry about it unless you get an aftermarket cam. hth
sounds like your vtec is engaging just a little late. If an engine is meant to be redlined, I would have to say hi rpm is alright, as long as your aren't bouncing off the rev limiter. Reason why it could be bad cuz your valves can float and pistons can essentially slap those valves and break stuff.
