vtec question

vtec question
is there more then one part to vtec it seems like when it pops it pulls and around 5700 it pulls harder and at like 7000 it pulls crazy hard
is this true or am i just imanging this.

well hondas and other foreign cars usually pull harder at higher rpms, because that is when they make their most hp and torque. But I would say go to http://www.hostuffworks.com they have a really nice write up on how the vtec works.

Of course it's going to pull really hard up top. However once it engages there is not sedondary engagement or anything. All vtec is is switching from a lower cam profile to a high cam profile. You keep making power because the higher lift/duration of the high cam which allows more air flow which will increase as the rpm's increase.

how u felt it pulled harder when 7000+ rpm was becos the fuel map reached its richest state, and ur valves opened more space for airflow after vtec engeged, so 7000+ rpm pulled harder was becos of better air flow, more gas was being ignited... not because of two vtec engagement point
