I'm confused about the thermostat. The temperature sensing side of the thermostat is facing the water pump inlet, true? How then can the thermostat know when to open if the water feeding it (returning from the radiator) only heats the side *away* from the actual sensing element of the thermostat.

Also, have any of you blocked off your heater lines? Did you plug them or just connect the lines together?
