Default SKunk2 NA v.s. Greddy Turbo

I will propose two setups and I would like for you guys to tell me which one is going to yield the best gains for less money, and also offer any other suggestions. I had a killer NA setup planned, but after calculating out to over $8000 I figured I'd look at a cheap turbo setup for around $3000. I know many of you will say a custom kit, but I am not the greatest gear head and where I live there are hardly any FI cars, much less FI'd Imports, so finding help is next to impossible. I am just looking for a little power to tide me over till I finish my other engine. Headin' to college so need to save some $$.

NA Setup:
Skunk 2 stage 2
12:1 pistons
Skunk 2 valvtrain
AEM Fuel system (Fuel rail, filter, FPR)
Hondata S2000
Skunk 2 IM
70MM Throttle Body
RC 370 Injectors
MSD Ignition
Unorthodox Underdrive Pulley Kit
AEM Short Ram
Water Pump
Oil Pump

Setup 2:
Standard Greddy Kit at standard PSI Setting (or how ever high I can go on stock internals)

This is a 95 (OBD1) GSR. Thanks for the input and any suggestions.

Well if that's the case. Just stick a shot of laughing gas up in there and call it a day. You'll be as fast as a greddy turbo charged car on 6psi. I ran a 13.8 with a 75 dry shot on leaky compression.

Good point on the Nitrous, but I want power all the time. I was thinking of trying to run a small shot along with the Greddy though. Keep it comming guys, thanks

If you want instant power, look into a JRSC. Especially if youre planning on a small shot of nitrous as well...thats one hell of a setup.

In NA vs Turbo, I always say turbo. NA just doesnt do it for me when the potential with boost is limitless. NA is also more expensive to get less results. If youre looking for a mildly fast reliable setup, bolt on a JRSC or Greddy kit and call it a day.

Well, isnt this ironic?

K. Well ive been on my Skunk2 NA for a while. Dyno'd great ~190 whp, stock pistons and all that. Blah. And Ive recently been considering turbo. Greddy turbo. And I think I want it now. I was going, and wouldve made, about 220-230 whp NA. And that is probably a bit more than a Hondata-tuned, low boost, Greddy GSR. Or at least the same.

I love revving to 9k. I love BOV's. I love torque. I love beating boosted cars NA. I love driving boosted cars.

What to do?

Why did you say yeah?
Just wondering...wasnt much of a point to it. Anyway.

I think he wanted the greddy kit because it is known for its quick bolt on, and reliability.

Quick bolt on, spools quick, fairly small...if you dont want to spend time/money into putting a kit together or researching more "complex" kits, the Greddy kit is great for install n go.

Just ditch that bluebox for a smaller bluebox with the "Hondata" logo on it...youll enjoy it much more

I was agreeing with the above 2 statments...Greddy turbo kits aren't that great, waste gate sucks IMO. Plus you have to pay extra for an FMIC and stuff. JRSC is another good alternative.

The Greddy kit is only for OBD2 cars. 96 and newer!

If you go turbo, you'll probably wanna spend a couple hundred on gauges.

well if i had a gsr and made NA list it would not look like that.
maybe some thing like :
cams of you choice (ITR,CTR, Skunk2,TODA,Jun, ect)
cam gear
portflow head!!!!!
valvetrain upgrade
CAI
hondata intake manfiold gasket
Skunk2 intake manifold
ITR 62mm TB.....BTW 70mm is wayyyyy over kill on applications that don't even make above 220whp!
just get a FPR (rail, pump and filter is a waste of your money in performance aspect) unless you want to simply dressup your engine bay
pistons(your choice)
ditch the underdrive pully set and get a lighten flywheel! you'll thank me later!
Stock injectors can handel about 210whp max. Unless your makeing 280whp you don't need the RC370cc..get the RC 310cc if not staying stock.
Hondata S200!!
yes all motor is expensive for what gains you get out of it.

or simply turbo it with a greddy 18G kit @ 10psi tunne it with hondata, run low 13's at the track and call it a day!
