help removing tar
When you gut your car , right when you take out the door panels and theres the plastic film or whatever , peel that and it leaves like sticky tarlike glue . any suggestions on how to remove it , or anyone know how to remove it ? i used goo gone but not that effective .
- Heat it up with a low temp heat gun.
- Scrape away with a stiff metal spatula
- If you still can't get it off, use a wire brush bit on a good drill
Someone also told me to use Castrol Super Clean and a little bit of
the original Goo Gone or Goof Off (as seen on tv).

If your talking about the more flexable black tar used to glue the window flims on the doors just use something like 3M adhesive remover or Goof Off! The hard tar in the floor pans requires dry ice and a lot of elbow grease (there is a wicked how-to on the board) and if you mean the tan colored putty a heat gun and putty knife will get that off.

damn, i must have been really lucky with my floorboard tar, all i did was get an edge of my screwdriver under it and levered it up, i got both driver and passenger sides up in almost one piece. the rear section was a little harder, so what i did was dig a corner of the tar up with the driver and jammed it in and broke it up, got that tar off in about an hour. but in total i only saved about 20 lbs. o well
