My girlfriend has a 92 accord and everytime the air conditioner comes on it makes this loud *** whinning noise. BTW the noise comes on and off and differnet times, whiule driving and idling. Any ideas of what that would be and how much to fix?

 

my 91 accord had the same problem. It was a bearing inside the AC compressor for me. IT had gone bad and everytime the compressor switched on, the sound started. I haven't had mine fixed yet, so i can't tell you the price range...hopefully that'll help you a bit

NO its definently not a belt squeeling, i can't figure out what it is. How much do you people it would cost for a new AC compressor for this 92 accord? Any suggestions where to find one as well?

 

My compressor makes that whining sound too.... kinda sounds like a Ford power steering pump, LOL. Still works fine though and spins with ease, so I'll just wait until it quits.

You can find a/c compressors at the junkyard for farily cheap, just make sure it's good before buying it. Otherwise any parts store should be able to get you a rebuilt one for about $250-300, or they show up on ebay quite often as well.
