What should I use to build my engine (B18C5)
Okay, I need a lot of help here. I have been unsure what I want to do with my engine for quite some time now.
I have a 98 Civic HB that I plan to swap a B18C5 into as soon as HMO gets a 98 or newer motor swap in. I dont know what I want to do with the motor just yet as far as aftermarket parts. I drive the car everyday and after the swap I plan to do some drag racing and I want to find some auto X events and maybe take some classes. There are a couple things I want to do to the motor as or before I do the swap. Like I plan on adding the spoon sports engine mount kit because I figure my car could use it cause it has 140,000 miles and cause it will get rid of the whole "which mounts do i need for a B18 swap?" I am also going to replace all the oem belts, dist cap and rotor, water pump, and will be putting in some NGK plugs with NGK high dollar wires. I would like to replace the clutch. I'm not sure if I will do this or not it depends on the mileage of the motor I recieve. If I replace the clutch I might as well replace the flywheel while I'm there. Then I also want add i/h/e. Later down the road I want to add a Final Drive and possibly cams and sprockets. I might upgrade the ignition also. That is pretty much the extent of what I want to do with my motor. I want it to be very reliable and streetable yet I would also like to hit the 200whp mark. after the motor is finished or after the first steps are done I want to get a ITR 5 lug Conv. and a descent suspension setup. I also want to get front and rear strut tower and sway bars. I also want to get a decent set of wheels and prolly falken azenis tires. Basicly I want to know what you guys think of my build up and what products you suggest. Below I have written what I am thinking of getting and tell what you would get or get instead
Clutch- spoon sports full disc
Flywheel- fidanza or spoon sports
Intake- AEM CAI
Header- Mugen, Toda, Spoon Sports
Cat- Carsound 2.5
Exhaust- T1R or Buddy Club
FD- ATS or JDM OEM
Cams and Sprockets- Toda, Spoon
Suspension- Tein HA
Wheels- 17" RH Evo CP8s Bronze, 17" Rota Subzeros or maybe just stock 15" ITR wheels does anyone know of a cheap place to find volks - CE28n's or TE37's 16" preferably. I guess thats it. I hope you guys can point me in the right direction. Thanks Ryan.

Dont buy things just because of the name or because its JDM, thats first.
Why are you going to buy a Spoon Sports engine mount kit?? i didnt even know spoon made one of those, whats wrong w/ Place Racing? or HaSport?? I bet they are cheaper than Spoon, and Place Racing has a LIFE TIME warranty, i bet spoon doesnt.
Clutch: Why do you need a "spoon Clutch"?? Whats wrong w/ a ACT or a CM clutch?? I have a CM clutch that i have been using and it works great.
Flywheel: just get fidanza, again dont buy things because of the name.
Header: go look at the great header test, go either toda/sms/hytech...i prefer SMS since i use one, again drop the usless JDM garbage
Intake, Stock w/ a drop in filter, look at the tests done by SGT and how the AEM seems to lose power, it did w/ my motor.
Exhaust: doesnt really matter, make sure it isnt crimp bent, and is mandrel bent. Basically matters on how loud you want it or how you want it to look.
Cams: looks like you want to keep stock compression, you can get Toda As or Skunk stage 1s, or you can buy stock ...oh i mean spoon... cams.
Suspension: the HA model is no longer available, they are now called the Flex.

Ha first you have outlined about 10 grand worth of stuff, and you dont even have the motor yet. Forget modding or saying what you would like or want to do, hell id like a lot of things for my car.. but if i were you just save for the swap, then enjoy the stock motor. The search button is your friend.

nevermind these guys I truly think you will be suprised how well a stock R motor will acomodate you let alone a jdm 98+ R motor.
now lets breakdown your mods of choice, an ats fd unit is not really necessary with a 98+ spec motor neither is your 900 dollar headers a jdm 4-1 has proven itself time and time again as the best bang for the buck (my opinion only) also the spoon clutch is a good choice but as stated before there are many other peices that will do their job just as well if not better for an even cheaper price, one alternative I would suggest is the toda full face clutch/flywheel package, I have used this for 20,000 miles and absouloutly love it.
If I was in your position which I was at one point I would just drive it completely stock for the first couple of months if not satasfied just make the motor breath better by adding the basic bolt ons but remember it is very easy to mistake noise for actual power being produced. Just be sure to research on every product and don't buy things for their jdm bling.

Spoon Sports mounts look a lot more like stock mounts than the other companies. Plus I have heard they other companies mounts dont line up as good as stock and Spoon mounts are suppose to be the same as stock just 35% stiffer. I have also heard the other mounts are very stiff and rough at idle when Spoon claims their mounts reduce idle rattling.

I know reading is not ur strong point but Iwas asking for suggestions on a clutch must like the other parts I listed. I just read on a recent thread about clutches and someone suggested the spoon clutch and the tilton clutch. I'm not familiar with the tilton clutch so I thought the spoon would be a good way to go. But then again I was asking for suggestions and for experience with a clutch, I never said I needed the spoon clutch.
Flywheel: just get fidanza, again dont buy things because of the name.
Again I'm not buying thing for their name I'm buying it because of simple facts like spoon claims after much R&D of the flywheel they have found a perfect weight for the flywheel to where the engine revs quickly and doesnt drop off the powerband btw shifts. I have also heard good things about the fidanza so like I mentioned earlier I was asking for suggestions not flaming.
Header: go look at the great header test, go either toda/sms/hytech...i prefer SMS since i use one, again drop the usless JDM garbage
I never knew that spoon and mugen headers were garbage. I'm glad we have cleared this up. I can't wait to spend over a thousand $ for a hytech or sms that will give me the same performance as the garbage headers that are under $1000.

Finally he states something useful. I dont know who SGT ?Sergant? is but thanks for the info.

Another amazing piece of information that is actually helpful. I'd say he's learning kids.

Oh man we were doing so good for a while there but you had to throw ur little flame in there. I dont know why u hate spoon so much but I have heard from a little troll that they actually make quality products. Plus the sales pitch for their cams is a rise in low end torque and a slight gain the VTEC, HMMMM sounds like an awesome street cam for everyday use on stock compression.
Suspension: the HA model is no longer available, they are now called the Flex.
Some companies I believe still have them in stock I will have to look around. I dont understand why the Flex costs 1400 and the HA cost 1090 I guess because they added the pillow ball mounts. Thanks this was another useful piece of info. Was that hard?, just to give someone some advice without being an *******.

seriously, why can't we just offer some suggestions? how is this even remotely helpful?
at least he spent the time to write out a plan, even if it isn't well thought out.
it's MUCH better than 'i have $x,000, what should i do, isn't it?

I could have swore I listed goals in the original post but once again reading is not your stront point RJ, who I think, is a moderator. I said stuff like wanting a reliable car and succeeding in some auto X events or doing some drag racing. I also mentioned hitting the 200whp mark. I'm sorry I didnt list good enough goals.
I have thought of a few.
1. I want this car to take me to the Super Bowl.
2. This car needs to get me a super model
3. I would like the car to take me to space
I hope since I listed better goals you will have decent advice. and If you cant try this link
