i have a 2001 prelude (non-sh) and got a ticket for exhaust & the cop poped my hood. he took pix of everything and wanted me to go to a state referee . will i pass with aem cai, dc headers, and greddy evo exhaust? i also have a vafc and was wondering if i should put the vtec up at 7000 rpm in order to reduce emissions. what exactly do they do to test ur car for emissions n e ways?

 

I don't get that part. I know they pull you over a lot for modified exhaust as probable cause, but if they pop your hood and see only CARB stuff..... what's with the deal, causing people like me to have to go write it off. Which is okay, but it's TIME!!!

 

emissions are all set by the state. they hook your car up to a computer and run it through a test cycle. if your items are all carbed, then you will pass the visual... you should be safe and put everything back to stock though.
what you can do to pass the emissions is to buy a brand new cat. dont install it untill your ready to go to the ref... drive it straight to the ref and your emissions should be dramatically reduced.

 

the cop took a picture of all my stuff though r they going to send it to the state referee? and if they do will they expect me to test my car with my I/H/E? i dunno wut to do and i cant drive my car until it is oked by the ref or else they will tow it way. and do they actually test ur ecu? bcuz on the hybrid forums they worry about the jdm motors and different ecu. so i dunno if i should leave in my vafc or take it out.

 

God...don't do anything..... ur gonna pass put ur vtec engagement to stock.... don't take ur headers or exhaust off. ur gonna pass... I passed emissions test here in Ontario, Canada w way more mods..internals OBD1 conversion etc etc... If u have a cat on u'll be fine.. especially with ur mods... DC header...exhaust CAI is nothing..
