new Brake pads/Rotors...... need help!
ok so i got new hawk pads and power slot rotors for my 5lug with spoon calipers. i put then on and the front rotor does not spin freely. when i coast, the car slows down by its self very fast as if there is a lot of friction between the pad and rotor. anyone else encounter this problem? TIA
yup double checked. pads fit perfectly and rotors. the pads seem a little thick but no problems sliding the calipers and new pads back over the rotor.
*one thing though..... in the pic above.. the right pad has no play, but on the other hand the left pad does. ??? *confused*

anyone else have any helpful advice? TIA

weird....
I dunno what to tell you, but to take it all apart, and recheck, see if you can measure the inside of the caliper spacing on both sides, and thickness of the pass, you might find the problem there.

I had the same problem with my spoon calipers, spoon rotors, and endless na-m brake pads. my inside pad had play but my outside pad did not on both calipers. So what i did was put one endless pad on the inside were they had play and im gonna let them wear down a bit before i switch those that are in the inside to the out side and then put the other two that are not on the car on the inside. Make any sense?

yup did that and still does it

Make sure the rotors are either 23 mm thick (stock thickness) or 25 mm thick. If the rotors are 28 mm thick, then they gave you NSX rotors instead of ITR rotors.
Did you have the same problem with other pads before?
If the rotor thickness is ok, your Spoon calipers might be off centered.
The Spoon calipers that fit perfectly in our USDM car are the ones that have the mounting surface shaved/machined at the bracket. Maybe AJ Pwr can help you out on that.....

Ummm mine came with thin spacers that allowed the calipers to sit center on the rotor. They look like washers. Make sure you install thouse between the caliper and the mounting bracket.

this is the first time i've changed the pads since the calipers. when i got the spoon calipers i reused the stock pads. it is a JDM 5lug. and my calipers never came with spacers

Try taking the calipers off and see if there is still a problem with them spinning freely. At least that would let you know that they are definitely causing the problem.

yes it does spin freely. trust me i tried everything. i even removed and drained the caliper of brake fluid and rebled the brakes. still same problem. so i put my old pads (which arent that worn out yet) back on to drive around for now.
yes

Been there, done that. Rotors are the right thickness, calipers are perfectly centered, brake pads are the culprit.
Brake pads are not all created equaly. You just happened to buy HAWK pads which are notoriously thick.
Your easiest solution is to buy thinner brake pads. OEM ITR pads w/ the shims cut-off will work.
Good luck.
