Default Couple of questions regarding LS/vtec

1) I am in Nor-Cal (fremont/oakland bay area) and prefer not to ship my motor for rebuild, Anyone know of a reputable shop in Nor-Cal for a LS/Vtec build-up?

2) For PR3 or P30 pistons, would a stock LS rod need to be machined (like it would for R-type pistons)?

3) If I wind up using forged units, will 81.5mm be ok on stock sleeves? I know helms says 81.20 is max, Compression would be only around 11.0:1-11.8:1.

TIA

1) Sorry I'm in Oklahoma so I can't help you there.
2)Nothing needs to be done aside from having a machine shop press them on.
3) Factory overbore pistons are .25mm more. Don't do more than that on stock sleeves. If you want a larger bore, then you need to resleeve.

Sorry man, most of the reputable shops that build ls/vtec are down in So Cal. There is a guy called Omniman, I've pm'ed him a couple times on clubsi, and he seriously knows his stuff. If you are serious about a quality ls/vtec build with good power, you should check him out or at least get some advice from him. The shop he works for is Dynamic Autosports. I live in Nor Cal too, and if the funds accumulate soon I'm totally willing to go all the way down to so cal to have him build it. Just some food for thought.
