Default accord struts

When using Accord front struts, do I need to order them for an LX, EX or does it really matter?

I doubt it really matters.

One more ? Do I have to cut these bump stops and if so, in half like usual? They already seem small.

I want some more information on this setup too...

What year Accord struts- the same as the EF?

How much extra travel does it give you... or a better question might be- how much shorter is the strut?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can answer. The search really blows without a content search option.

If your using bilstiens, there is no advantage to using accord shocks.....

Ok... why not? The Bilsteins have a much stiffer valving setup? I thought the advantage to using Accord shocks was a shorter shock body. If that's the case, it wouldn't matter what manufacturer you went with- the advantage would always be there.

Does anyone know for sure? Any real technical information on this one? I can't find it through the crippled search engine...

Between two what?!

Accord vs CRX struts?

What's the difference that everyone is looking for?

Which Accord anyway?

I need more info... this is too vague. My friend who's friend who's mother's boyfriend's gay lover's father's mistress's dog's **** examiner know something about these shocks, but how am I supposed to know what's accurate?!

Ok well I just put in 89 Accord front struts(Sensa-tracs), and yes the strut body was definately shorter, about an inch shorter. This setup is a hell of a lot better than my other setup- 99 GSR struts and R1 coilovers. My fronts are tucked right now and the car doesn't sound like it wants to fall apart over every bump now. I'll try to post a pic tomorrow. I still have about another 1-1 1/2" I can drop it still. IMO for the money I think it is worth it.

poly, 90ef, thank you VERY much for the links. I DID search, but got nothing but this thread, even when searching "Accord" in the archives for ALL threads. Maybe the search engine isn't picking everything up... that first thread obviously has "Accord" in the title, and the search didn't hit it.

90ef- I look forward to seeing pics of your setup. Do you have to modify the Accord struts at all for them to fit? The linked thread says no, but I've heard otherwise from some pretty solid sources.

Yup, search is broken somehow...

"Recent" posts search for "accord" in CRX / EF Civic:

"Archived" posts search for "accord" in CRX / EF Civic:

I don't see either of those threads you linked to in the search results. Do I just not know how to use the search engine or something?!

BTW, you can get Tokiko BLUES for the 89 Accords as well. Mine are on order now. I should have them installed in a week.

Thanks, no prob. I may lower it even more this weekend for the NIagara9 meet. Right now my mud flaps scrape when I take a tight turn, and when it is stationary I can barely get my fingers under them.

88CRX- The Caravan is owned by one of the techs here. Damn domestic owners working at a Honda dealership

Wow, that low? I don't have mud flaps on mine... the dork with the car before me probably sawed them off or something, if the car even came with them in the first place. I have no idea.

You don't bottom out over heavy bumps now, right? No crazy crashing noise when you go over a speed bump or pot hole at moderate speed?

I think the flaps were an option at the dealership, mine have the Honda name stamped in them. As for the pothole thing, it really depends on how big the hole is obviously. Around here the potholes are big enough for me to lose my car in, but most relitivly large bumps are no problem. The speed bumps, I don't know about everybody else but I usually don't hit them at normal driving speeds, I usually crawl over them I find that with the mudflaps it makes my car look lower.

Well, of course... crawl over speedbumps and mud flaps were an option... but around here, you have speedbump sized lumps in the road every now and then, and sometimes you don't see them at night. I know that even a 2 inch change in the road height over a short distance (like 2 feet) will make my front end bottom out at 30mph. The bone-jarring "crash" is what I'm trying to get rid of- that's why I was wondering if speedbumps (should have said speedbump size bumps) upset the car with the new setup.
