Default Carbon fiber hood without pins?

Does anyone here have a CF hood that uses just the stock latch? How long have you had it like that?

I recently bought one from a company here in Toronto and it appears to be of very high quality. Its got a nice fiberlass frame underneath, and uses the stock latch just fine.. But my concern is that on the highway when I'm going around 120kh/h (70ish MPH) the hood kinda flaps a bit and futters around. Should I be concerned, or is the fiberglass probably pretty strong?

I've bought the flush mounting hood locks for it, but I have yet to get them on because from what I read its quite a pain. I'm wondering if it'd be safe to make a 3 hour trip this weekend at high speeds.
Anyone have any experience with them?

</TD></TR></TABLE> That should answer your question. Don't risk it, put your hood pins on. Unless you want to see your hood smack the windshield.

I know allot of people who don't run hood pins and nothing has happened yet. I myself has had a bad experience with the hood flying up but that was not caused from the latch.

I always run hood pins. I will never go with out now. I say better safe then more money spent later and unexpectedly.

i have seen a video at 140kph, the guys carbon fibre hood literally rips out of the latch, and rips itself in half, shatters his winshield, and causes a 3 lane accident. Use the pins lol.

Definatley use the pins, even if it don't flap around it's not worth the risk

I have had my fiber images CF hood for 2 years now. I have been up to about 110 and drive 80 miles a day round trip to work, mostly 65mph highway. I don't have hood pins and have no plans to install them. My hood is stable and I have no concerns about its strength. I don't know how strong your brand is so I can't make any recommendations. That was one of the reasons I chose the one I did, because I didnt want to run the pins.

I had the vis cf hood, many times to upwards of 126, and always cruised around 80mph, never had any problems, my hood didn't vibrate or shimmy either though. I would definitely only get vis or fiber images, on this car I have now.

I've had my VIS CF Hood on my car for more than a year and a half now, I've had no problems with it at all and I don't use hood pins. As long as you hood has that "skeleton" underneath it you should be ok.

anyone ever try the CF hoods from http://www.jdmshit.com? Im wondering if you should use hood pins with those ones or not. Seems to me that the ViS ones are safe to use without pins.

Ya.. Well, I'm delaying my trip to Toronto until I get the locks installed.. It would suck to mess up my car from being a dumbass.
