Hood Pins on my Carbon Fiber Hood?
Hey Guys,
I've had my carbon fiber hood for almost a year now, but everywhere I turn I hear people talking about how important hood pins are so that it does not come up and smash your windshield. How important are these really? like is it definite to pop up at some time?

ive never heard of a c/f hood poping open and breaking the glass
not unless u forget to latch it down
the only thing i can figure is the hood pins would help agains vibration and keep the hood from spydering

Thanks man, Yeah I hear people saying that at high speeds their hoods popped up and smashed their windshields.

Is is 100% definite that your latch will fail? No.
Is there a possibility it will fail, and has it happened to other people? Absolutely.
Knowing that there is the possibility and that it has happened to others, why would you take the risk? Hood pins are quite inexpensive and not terribly difficult to install. I would personally never run a C/F or fiberglass hood without hood pins securing it.

its also a matter of what company made it. I've had a VIS on for about 6 months now with no pins and have'nt had problems. I am actually still deciding on whether adding pins or not also, i'm looking at the Moroso pins from Jegs. They are very small (i dont like the hood pins look)

do you plan on driving 90-100 on a weekly basis?
i mean, it's not that important if your not flying down the freeway all the time. some people like pins, some don't, some even come with locks . there IS the possibility you could will fly up and hit you (if your flying)

Moroso Pins . I was going to mention the Moroso pins but you beat me to it. Very small pins and have a subtle look to them. They are the only pin that I have found that I like.

i personally have pins on my cf hood.
i have heard of peoples hood flying up but cracking the cf instead of the windshild.
but like everyone else is saying it depends on your driving habits and if you trust you latch.
