Default ek driverside mount failure

Any one know were to pick up a place racing driverside mount for a decent price? And yes I've searched. Has any one had trouble with their driverside mount in 96-00 civics? The stock ones are gel filled and rip very easily.

I just purchased a new stock one.

Your going to be hard pressed to find an aftermarket for less than 140.

Well I need one asap and I don't want to replace it with stock just to rip again. This sucks. Damn b20's got too much torque!!!

You guys with the busted driver side mount, are you using the AC Motor Mount with your swap?

dont get stock mounts, I blew 2 stock driver side mounts and then realized they really suck. Whatever you do, make sure you get aftermarket.

also... if you are looking at getting the Place Racing drivers side mount you might want to consider the Place passenger side mount as well. It will help balance the vibrations better.

This will end up costing about $300 though...

I just got Spoon motor mounts and I couldn't be happier.

i have replaced the two outermost bottom mounts ( one is the left side stabilizer, other attatches to the a/c mount)....they are metal alloy something with poly. bushings. my motor hardly moves at all when you rev it up...i only have a b16 though. my point is that usually people who swap into ek's use there stock ek upper driver side mount. MISTAKE. my friend has an ek/gsr swap without the bottom mounts, and has busted two of the upper driver side mounts.

i can't imagine how bad it would be with 1.8l or MORE. ouch...gel everywhere.

if you broke your driver side mount and you get another stock one, you will break it again, save the time, effort, and money and just get an aftermarket mount

I recommend hasport, I have one and its nice
If you don't want to spend alot, get a set of mugen mounts
An entire set of mugen mounts are cheaper then 1 driver side hasport mount

Just another possibility to look into. The HCP EK-SR full urethane driver side mount. Has an embedded washer in the top of the urethane already so you can use an air gun and torque the bolt down onto it w/out worring about tearing the urethane. PM me for more details if interested.

There is the problem. Trust me, those two bottom mounts make a lot of difference. There are a lot of people with turbo kits, running stock mounts. I've seen 400whp cars with stock mounts. The reason they aren't ripped to shreds is the lower mounts. I took my bottom mount off, and within an hour the upper driverside mount ripped. Luckily, my friend had a spare, and I reinstalled the lower mounts. No problems now, and it's been a few months. But now I'm having problems with the turbo.

I use Mugen mounts, if you look around, they cost about 320 a set. Comes with all 5 mounts, and your eyes wont blur out at 8600 RPM

If you switch to poly, make sure to swith to both driver and passenger side, otherwise your motor will twist funny under hard acceleration. Also, you will start chasing rattles all over your car.

Thats a good idea...I am chasing rattles now myself.

I bought the place racing mount (drivers side only) Its tons better than my busted mount......the mounts dont tear because of power they tear because of moving past there intended range of motion...limit the motion...and they wont tear.

Drag racing puts alot of sudden force on the mount and tranmits clutch dumps straight to the mount....launch hard enough (2.0 60 @ 7000rpm) and the mount will eventually tear and spit oil (hood looks nasty underneath)

That said the $120 I spent on the mount was cheaper than $240 for the motion limiter from J's racing so if your on a budget call jdmhondaparts.com and order an EK drivers mount from them. But be aware rattles will oWn jOO

Putting another stock mount in would only be advisible if you got the J's torque dampener at $240 and it would allow you to keep the stock mount while severly limiting engine movement.

With that being sadi. Would putting in the ES mounts lower movement. all poly inserts around. Except that one up top. but they would take the stress of that one mount.

Everyone has problems with that mount, they always break, JDMhondaparts has both the place racing and hasport mounts, if you wanted to save some money just got buy a Si mount for the replacement, I have done that and have had no problems.

For some reason I think all poly mounts would be a little too stiff and cause even more rattling but....the best option would be the hard rubber mugen bushings....just a little too spendy for me right now.

WIth just the place racing drivers mount it took care of the problem.....so now I dont even worry about busting a mount, spitting oil (that stains the paint) all over tha place and a bouncy motor that could let the car wheel hop like a sum'bitch.

That was good enough for me
