Default Resistance coming from the shifter?? WHat up?

Hey,

I just bought a 92 Si yesterday and the shifter itself is difficult (not too bad) to shift you can feel some resistance as if some bushings are shot or something.

I have driven other Civics and have not had this problem..while others have been worse. Any idea what this is? What is the fix?

Both times when my clutch died, it was preceded by a "sticky" feeling when I was changing gears. What is your Si's mileage and service history?

The mileage on the Si is 115K miles, and I know the clutch is toast it slips alot between shifts, I can't even chirp 1-2 haha

I noticed that my car even when the clutch was really bad still shifted freely. That was a 90 Civic I am unsure if there are differences.

Obvious things first... check the linkage for any binding, etc.

However, I'd be willing to bet that you need to change the tranny fluid. If the previous owner was running straight 10w30 in there like some manuals for the car say to run (*cough* Chiltons *cough*), then it will be almost impossible to shift into first while the car is moving, even slowly. A change to honda MTF will help out with making the shifts smoother.
