Default Fidanza flywheel problems...

Ok,
I have had this flywheel for almost 2 years now, and no problems. Lately though when I try to start the car it sounds like the starter teeth are grinding against the flywheel. It makes this really loud, grinding noise, and never turns over. The weird thing is that if I take the key completely out of the ignition, and re insert it. It will usually start right up. Sometimes tho it won't and takes a couple tries. It use to do it every now and then, but not nearly as much as it does now. When I had the motor out of the car I checked the flywheels teeth, and there were a couple marks, but nothing serious, and they were barley noticeable.
Has anyone experienced this problem? It is really getting on my nerves
Thanks,
Josh

It came with the JDM motor i think. I guess I will try swapping on my new starter. Is that what happens when a starter goes bad?
Thanks,
Josh

I heard a few people complaining that JDM flywheels like JUN were not compatible with USDM starters because they were different. The result would be occasional grinding. If this is true maybe your JDM starter is not compatible with a USDM flywheel. Can anyone confirm this?

The issue is the ring gear not aligning properly with the starter. I've had this issue from the beginning. I didn't get it all the time but about 20% of the time. Fidanza told me they changed the ring gear about six months ago so I sent mine back to have everything replaced for $125. Don't know if I'll put it back in though. I've even seen the same issue with Jun flywheels. Strange thing is, I know some people with Fidanza that does not have this issue. I know Fidanza started installing bearings in the center about two years ago but don't know if changing the ring gear is bs or not. Someone call them and see what you are told.

The ring gears on those are OEM- I can't see how an OEM part would be a problem...

Maybe the starter bolts came loose? Happened to a friend once.
