Opening Transmission
I think I blew the input shaft bearing on my HX transmission. I can't seem to split the shell of the tranny to find out for sure (and replace it) though. I unbolted all the 12mm's aroung the tranny, and I pried it apart, but I can't only get it apart about an inch. Is this one of those brute force things? Or is there like a ring I need to pull? I seem to be missing something. I'm running on an EX tranny now, but I'd still like to get the issue with my hx tranny resolved.

there's going to be a 32mm bolt on the end of the transmission...kinda like a short little plug.
You;'ll need to remove this, and then inside there is a "C" clip, which is keeping the case connected to one of the shafts. You'll need to compress that clip, while somebody else lifts the tranny casing apart

Snap ring pliars will expand that ring (or some needle nose), not compress it, so you can pull the case apart. That ring sits in a groove on the intermediate shaft end bearing.
ALrighty, I remember seeing that clip. Unfortunately I broke my finger removing a bolt that was stuck, so I don't have the flexibility right now to try that. Thanks for the infor, makes more sense to me now!
