Default Taking Tranny Case Off. Snap ring?

I'm trying to seperate my tranny case to change the input shaft bearing and I can't find the snap ring to get the case apart. It comes off about 1/4 inch then stops. Anyone have a pic or decent summary on how to find and remove it?

on the back of the case (the part you are trying to take off) you will see a big plug with a square hole in it that your 3/8" drive ratchet will fit in - remove the plug and you will see the snap ring below it - use a set of needle nose pliers and spread the snap ring as far as you can and pull the case off
