How do I find out what tyoe of engine was put in my car?
I just bought a 92 Civic Si, HB. The engine was replaced before I bought it. Being somewhat mechanicly uneducated, could someone tell me what I could do myself, to find out what type of engine now powers my car. The women I bought it from has no idea, and I'd like to know. I also have the original, non functioning engine, what would a wise person do with it? Thanks.
it should have a 1.6 sohc vtec engine in it (d16z6). what do u mean what kind of things could u do yourself??? if u means mods an intake and exhaust are very easy to do.
on the block where it connects to the tranny... u will see some #'s stamped into it... something prolly along the lines of d16... maybe b18c if u are lucky... find out what it says and post it up
To see what type of motor it is, you can look at the block. There is an engine code stamped onto the front of the block towards the left side. If they replaced the original engine with the same motor, then it would be the D16Z6 as stated above by SOHC BOY.
Hope this helps
Hope this helps
If you're wondering what kind of mods to do with this, I would say either build for turbo, or sell that single cammer and get a b series. Just like everyone else has said the numbers are stamped on the block. if you dont know what stamp is what, look at the ffsquads website. they have all that good stuff
