hi guys, well i own a 95 civic coupe ex, that i bought from my brother he changed the engine he told me it used to be a d16, but he changed to a japanese engine and i am not to sure where to start or where to look to see what type of engine i have....i was able to look at the engine and it has a code of d15b and a bunch of number on the bottom what are those?

@ 89 t-rex, i looked at the link thank you but they showed the same code for that engine and it shows that the engine come out of a 88 crx, and 95 european civic is there any other way to find out which is it??? my brother was saying it is a d15b7 but i want to make sure .....or find out which trye i have.

the engine code you looked at did it say d15?? or d15b7?? as there are differences...

actually haha that wiki page is missing the 92-92 one thats my bad.... but trust me its a 92-95 whether ita vtec or not??? take her ou tpunch it in first if you get that step up around 5500 its a 3 stage

so i tried it and it has a kick at 5rpm.....but my brother moded it and install an apexi saf ii and it does have the vtech kick.....looking at the picture above i woul say it looks like the first one ....but it is hard to tell lol

it would be on the back side of the head, just below the valve cover, on the passenger side... atleast thats where it is on the d16z6... so i imagine its the same on all D's

its just a d15b vtec then...just about as close to a stock replacement as a z6 as your gonna get... good motor just like any other d series abuse the **** out of it.....keep the oil changed that bitch will run forever
