Default 1992-95 Honda Civic Hatchback Chassis

Hi guys,

I'm kind of new to this forum. I frequent the ITR and Forced Induction forum alot. Anyhow, after talking with Tom today about my car I've decided to not boost my ITR and keep it as a daily and find a Hatchback to play with. This will be a street driven car by the way.

Anyhow, I don't know where to begin. Are all the bare chassis pretty much identical? Since I work at acura I can get most of the ITR suspension and wheels and what not. I'm thinking I just need a bare chassis for now.

Thanks,

Len

What I'm concerned with is if there are actual physical differences between the chassis. Is one stiffer than the other and what not. Sorry, I'm totally new to these cars. More than likely, when I buy the chassis I'll have it completely stripped to the chassis and get it resprayed from the ground up.

chassis are the same, the models just came w/ different options. a CX or VX is your best bet for weight concerns. a DX is also a good choice, but a little heavier from a larger gas tank and a few other little things. a Si has all the goodies like power this and that, sunroof, etc. ,along with alot of extra weight.

I'm looking for one without power anything. No sunroof. Gas tank doesn't matter because I'll run a fuel cell. This car will be stripped down to the extreme because I already have a daily driver.

CX and VX models have power nothing. they're as basic as it gets.

hrrrmmm that sounds a bit familiar....doesnt it TOM!!?? lol good to hear more ITR guys aren't completely ruling out the ol civics yet as a great track car.

Also Len at the charlotte meet, i want to be sure and talk with you about a few things. I want to do an ITR sway bar, just not so sure on pricing. I have seen HUGE price range differences.

If you're going to strip it down anyways, just don't get the si model. because it has the sunroof and the power goodies. the si does have some additional suspension goodies to it, but they can all be replaced or bought in the aftermarket. a lot of the extra weight just comes from the options on the car like power sunroof, etc, more sound dampening, thicker seats. we're talking roughtly 200 lbs distributed over the entire car. the cx, vx, and dx are all the same chassis or can be stripped down to the same weight level.
