My distributor is only moved just under 2 mm advance so im sure its within spec. my only worry is that at idle it sounds a little louder than normal. When advancing timing to 18 degrees is it normal to hear the motor a little louder? Car sounds fine when reving just not at idle, and I don't Know what pinging sounds like. Can someone please confirm that its supose to be a little noisey.

For the love of God. Can anyone give me some insight?
Have you been reading your other post? Most of your advanve timing Q's are answered there
To answer this one, yeah my motor was a little noisy at idle too. I suggest only using 91+ octane now, try a bottle of octane boost too.
Hope that helps.

Jump the ecu while adjusting your timing. Then take the jumper out. The plug for the jumper is located right under your glove box right next to the ecu.
I believe that the dealer didn't adjust your timing accordingly.
