just got a b18c1 bare block
well i got a hold of a b18c1 bare block. it has JE pistons that have i beleive a 12:1 compression and also has upgraded rods as well. besides that the block is bare the crank was taken out due to a spun bearing so there is no crank as well. i have a b16 in my car right now, and i need advice on what to do with this block i would like to swap my b16 head on it considering my type r cams ar in teh b16 head now. i was wondering if i did this with these JE pistons (they are in perfect condition) what would the compression be like with 12:1 pisonts a b18c1 block and b16 head? will my stock valves and springs be ok with these pistons?
I believe if the compression was 12:1 in a b18c1 witha c1 head then with a b16 it will lower the compression. Not sure how much but im pretty sure it will.
but i thought a b16 head on a gsr block was a "poor mans type r" and type r motors have higher compression than gsr motors. am i wrong?
does anyone here have the link to the compression calculator on CSPEED i think?

if you already thought something, then why did you ask the question to begin with.
If you put a ITR/B16 head on a GSR it will LOWER the compression.
If you put a GSR head on an ITR/B16 block it will RAISE the compression.
What do you learn from this? The GSR's combustion chamber is smaller then the ITR/B16.

gee tony i asked because i was unsure of my thought. thanx for your response though. so how bout that link to the compression calculator on cspeed garage?

well im tryin to figure out how to use this calculator the right way. i will be using a b16a head
b18c1 block
je pistons 12:1 (6.7 dome height)
oem head gasket
piston to deck height ???? i tried both
and my compression came out to only 11.594320467354728 dos that sound right?
oh yea i tried doing the reverse with having a b16 block and b18c1 head like MR. TONY said and that lowered the compression not make it higher.... so i guess i was right having a b16 head on a gsr block gives u higher compression.
anyways the compression i listed above does that sound ok to u guys? will i have to upgrade my valves and springs or can i leave them alone?

LOL, try it again buddy.
GSR Block/p72 Pistons/OEM HG/OEM B18 Deck height with GSR Head = 10.00 to 1
GSR Blcok/p72 Pistons/OEM HG/OEM B18 Deck height with ITR Head = 9.80 to 1
So Mr Tony and just about everyone else in this thread was right all along.

since i have pistons and rods, all i need is a crank now and i found a gsr crank and gsr pistons and rods for 100 bux froma 95 gsr. i only need the crank do u guys think this is a good deal?
