after i drive the car a while the CEL will come on and it flashed 3 short time - map sensor - bad wiring or defective map sensor - when the CEL is on it idles about 1300-1400 or so and wont go any lower even if i cut the AC on - what could this be - i also back fire alot when this code is on...help me out here guys

I would replace the MAP sensor. I had the same problem, except it happened immediately. As soon as I turned the car on, it would idle real high and lumpy. CEL came on as soon as the car started and it was code 3 as well. I replaced the MAP sensor and that fixed my problem

what map sensor should i get - or they all the same?

i'm retarded when it comes to map sensors...

 

is yours on the throttle body or bolted to the fuel filter/firewall? Whichever type yours is, just get that kind. You could probably go to the junk yard and find yourself a few MAP sensors to take home and try out and keep whichever one works

 

mines on the TB - well the top of the TB - go get me a few map sensors and see which one works huh, not buy a new one..??
