Default compression test question

I did a compression test the other day and my number in cylinder 1 was low ( it was done at operating temp) i was at 260, now today i did it cold and it was 295?? Arent your numbers supposed to be low when its cold. All Cylinders except cylinder 4 were 290-295 cylinder 4 was 300 psi. BTW im using ctr pistons in a b18c1/Pr3 head setup JUN III cams. I usually hit 300 plus psi in all cylinders, think because maybe I need a valve adjustment that my numbers are lower than usuall , its been 17000 miles since my last adjustment?
