lighten flywheel
i had a fidanza flywheel on my LS and it made SUCH a world of difference, you'll have to relearn how to release the clutch a little slower and give it a little more gas because it'll feel as though you "lost torque" because the inertail mass is less (you really lost or gained now power). however the light weight reduces a LOT of stress on the motor and you'll rip through the RPMs as if the tranny was geared shorter.
best mod i had on my old car.
i now have a 12.4 lb stock flywheel (it was machined from 18.6) and it helps an incredible amount for my boost. that's just something to think about, if you plan on boosting, lighter is better but its also harder to use.

Yup, the flywheel has been a great mod to my RS. The only things I have done are 12.5 xAct streetlite FW, ITR rear sway, and 16" slipstreams. The FW made the car better to drive and my mpg has gone way up for in town driving. I don't have to push the car has hard to get up to speed. I'd suggest it to anyone.

same here
xAct makes a 8.8 pound prolite flywheel and I should have gotten that one. I was talked out of it but shouldn't have listened.

I had an 7.5 lb flywheel with my stage 2 clutch from ACT. The flywheel was too light for my set-up at the time that I lost alot of torque. Right now I am going with a 12.5 lb flywheel. I thought lighter was better but I found out...12-12.5 lb is proper.

I've seen some stuff on here saying you don't lose torque with a lightened flywheel.

you're exactly right... light weight flywheels do not lose torque, it just changes inertial mass which will make it feel that way. You just need to learn to either slip the clutch a little bit or give it more gas on launches.
losing torque with a flywheel is like people saying "my car over steers with a 22mm sway bar." rear sway bars do not increase oversteer; rather they decrease understeer.

Love my clutch masters lighten flywheel. I would recommended it to anyone. It cut my boost lag down several rpms. My buddy is running a 99 LS with I/H/E after he upgraded his clutch with 7lb fly, it felt like my turbo on low boost.
It does make it harder to drive in stop and go traffic.
The engine revs much more quickly and revs down more quickly between revs.
I just shift quicker so it doesn't bother me.
Overall, it is a good mod to have if you don't mind having to shift quicker between gears.

Love my Clutchmasters 7.5 lb. aluminum flywheel. I've gotten used to it so I don't even notice the fast dropping revs all that much. The only time it can get annoying really is when the A/C is on. Between shifts w/ the A/C on, the revs REALLY drop like a rock! Even w/ a short throw shifter it can be difficult to shift w/o the revs dropping too much before engaging the clutch. You almost have to rev-match when upshifting. But again, this is only w/ the A/C on.
